Another on my list of WTF films, though not as bad as It Follows. For the most part, I got the movie, and enjoyed the humor throughout. But then there's the ending. I've actually googled WTF with Carl running at the end, and found some feasible explanations. But none of the ones I've read really explain the look of... terror, fear, whatever, as he's running in the final frames of the film.

If Follows
Perhaps this film needed the "in house" movie experienced (darkened theatre, sense of isolation, etc.) to generate the dread mentioned so often here… I certainly never experienced any – nor anything much more than "when is this going to end" and "WTF did THAT mean?".

F9: The Fast Saga
Fast & Furious goes beyond "jump the shark" to full blown live action cartoon in the first fifteen minutes… and since I still enjoy Looney Tunes cartoons, I really didn't have a problem with that.

The Vast of Night
Presumably, all the rave reviews I've seen were for the stylish production style and storytelling, since the story, despite it's X-files vibe, held no particular surprises.

Fresh
Body horror meets the horrors of 21st-century dating in the most (intentionally) uncomfortable film I've watched in a very long time.

The Green Knight
As leisurely as the pace may be, it supremely captures the mythic feeling so essential to Arthurian storytelling.

Beasts Clawing at Straws
At first, it's unclear how anything you're watching is connected… then everything falls into place in the last act, and it's f'ing brilliant.

That Cronenberg's oddly biological "gamepods" are not the weirdest part of this movie pretty much says it all.

The Assassin
Beautiful, award-winning film about an assassin tasked with a dangerous mission in 8th century China… with a pace that often feels like watching paint dry.
